FAQs
Are the markers non-toxic and safe for use on fabrics?
Yes, our laundry markers are non-toxic and completely safe for everyday use on clothing and other fabrics. They meet ASTM D-4236 (AP certified) standards, which means the ink contains no harmful substances. You can confidently use them to label garments—including children’s clothing—without any safety concerns.
Can the markings be removed if necessary (for example, if I mark the wrong thing)?
The markings made by our laundry marker are intended to be permanent on fabric and won’t wash out under normal use. If you ever need to remove them, there’s no simple solution—repeated washing or using bleach might lighten the mark, but it likely won’t come off completely. It’s best to treat any marking made with the laundry pen as a long-lasting label that will stay for the life of the fabric.
Do the markers cause any damage or stiffness to the fabric?
No, our markers won’t cause any damage or noticeable stiffness to fabric. The ink is specially formulated to absorb into the fibers without creating a crusty or hardened texture. Once dry, the marked area stays just as soft and flexible as the rest of the fabric, keeping your clothing comfortable to wear.
How visible are the markings on different colored fabrics?
The visibility of the markings depends on the contrast between the ink and the fabric color. Our standard laundry markers use deep black ink, which shows up clearly on light fabrics like white, yellow, or light grey. On darker fabrics such as navy or black, the mark may be less noticeable and might need to be traced over a couple of times for better visibility. We also offer other color options like blue and red, which work well on medium-tone fabrics. For very dark garments, a white or metallic laundry marker (if available) is recommended, as black ink will appear subtle on black material.
Are the markings waterproof and fade-resistant through washing?
Yes, the ink is specially formulated to be waterproof and highly fade-resistant. Once applied and allowed to set, it holds up through routine washing and drying without any issues. The markings stay bold and clear, even after many laundry cycles. They won’t bleed or fade from exposure to detergent or water—this ink is specifically made for labeling clothes that are washed regularly.
Are the markings waterproof and fade-resistant through washing?
Our laundry markers are designed not to significantly bleed through. When you write on one side of typical fabric, the ink will mark that spot without soaking an excessive amount into the other side. On very thin or porous fabric, you might see a small shadow on the backside, but it won’t be a big blotch. It’s always a good idea to place a piece of paper or cardboard behind the fabric when marking, just in case, but generally you’ll find the ink stays where you put it.
Does the ink of the laundry marker withstand washing and detergents?
Yes, the ink in our laundry markers is specially formulated to handle regular washing, detergents, and even high-temperature wash cycles. It’s an alcohol-based permanent ink that bonds securely with fabric fibers, delivering long-lasting, reliable results. You can wash marked clothes in hot or cold water, with soap or detergent, and the writing will stay clear and intact. These markers also meet “AP” (Approved Product) safety standards for art materials, so they’re both safe to use and durable on fabric. The ink dries quickly, so once it’s set, you can toss the item in the wash without worrying about smudging or fading.
