Are the markers permanent once applied to ceramics?

Yes, the markers become permanent on ceramic surfaces once the ink is properly set. After decorating a ceramic item—like a mug or plate—you’ll need to let it dry and then heat-set it, usually by baking it in the oven at a specified temperature. Once the ink is set this way, the design becomes fixed and won’t wash off easily, making it perfect for long-lasting ceramic art or personalized items.

Can the markers be used on other surfaces besides ceramics?

While these markers are specially formulated for ceramics, they can also be used on other smooth, nonporous surfaces like glass and porcelain. The ink will write and dry on these surfaces, but the level of permanence can vary. On ceramics that are heat-set, the design becomes highly durable. However, on plain glass or unsealed surfaces, the ink may be more prone to rubbing off over time or with washing. For the best results on non-ceramic items, applying a clear sealant after the ink dries can help ensure a more permanent finish.

What type of tip do the ceramic markers have?

It’s fine enough for outlining designs or writing text with good control, yet broad enough to fill in shapes and create bold lines. Yes, once the ink is properly set, it’s both fade-resistant and reasonably UV-stable. For extreme outdoor conditions with constant sun and weather exposure, you may notice gradual fading over the years, which is normal for most pigments. But for indoor use or occasional outdoor display, the colors will stay bright for a long time.

Can the markers be used for both detailed work and broad strokes?

Yes, these markers are versatile and work well for both detailed and broader designs. The medium bullet tip lets you create fine lines by using just the tip—great for outlines and small accents. For larger areas, you can use the side of the tip or layer the ink to fill in sections smoothly. Are the ceramic markers food-safe for dishware like plates or mugs?
